The 2017–18 School Report Cards (SRC) are now available on the Texas Education Agency’s website athttp://tea.texas.gov/perfreport/src/index.html. The purpose of the SRC is to inform parents and guardians about a campus’s individual characteristics and its academic performance.
For those who would like greater detail about the information in the SRC, the glossary that accompanies the 2017–18 Texas Academic Performance Report (TAPR) is a useful resource. It contains definitions and methodologies for all the information included in the SRC. The data in the SRC is a subset of that published in the TAPR. We would like to inform you that after school tutorials will be cancelled tomorrow Friday, January 25th due to setting up for our STEAM/International Festival. Please note that we are still having after school clubs that run between 3:00 pm – 3:45 pm. However, the clubs that run between 4:00 pm- 5:00 pm are cancelled as well.

Our kickoff assembly will take place in the gym Friday, January 25th where students will learn all about Heart Disease and the incentives they can earn collecting donations when they join the Heart Heroes. Students will be collecting donations (online only) up until February 13th when we will have our Jump Rope and Hoops for Heart Heros Celebration. Please encourage our students to collect donations online and help other kids through the American Heart Association.

STEAM Festival 2019- Saturday, January 26 marks Harmony Science Academy ‘s Fourth Annual STEAM Festival where students and their families have an opportunity to explore the wonders of science, technology, engineering, mathematics and Art (STEAM) through science presentations, hands on experiments and activities.
In addition to hosting our STEAM Festival, we will take the opportunity to celebrate the diverse cultural backgrounds of our students through our International Festival. HSA-SL prides in embracing diversity as we create an atmosphere of respect and appreciation by highlighting various countries and cultures across the globe.
Please join us in welcoming community leaders and congressman Olson as we do the ribbon cutting at 9:30am. You will be able to enjoy international cuisine, music, dance, authentic clothing and arts from different cultures. Come and show your pride by wearing a traditional attire from your culture and lets celebrate the DIVERSITY at HSA – SL.

This is a friendly reminder that we are still taking nominations for gifted and talented program. For more information please read the announcement below.
Gifted and Talented Education
In accordance with the Texas State Plan for the Education of Gifted/Talented students, Harmony Science Academy-Sugar Land campus will begin taking nominations for all students in grades K-5th for gifted and talented screening. Effective January 7, 2019, parents and teachers may nominate their student(s) for GT testing.
Our campus uses NWEA MAP as a pre-screening criterion for CogAT testing (GT Student handbook page 7). Students are eligible to be tested (CogAT) for the Gifted/Talented program (criterion varies for students enrolled in Special Programs) if the student’s percentile rank of any of the NWEA MAP scores in Reading, Math or Science is greater or equal to 80 (NWEA MAP score at the 80th percentile).
ESL students who earn a score of 80 or above in NWEA MAP are also eligible for nominations.
Nomination forms are available at the front office and on the school website. All nomination forms must be returned to the front office no later than Thursday, January 31, 2019. No LATE nominations/forms will be accepted passed January 31st. NO EXCEPTIONS!!

It’s time for our Annual Geography Bee!!
This competition it is sponsored by the National Geographic, designed to spark interest and increase awareness of Geography in or students. Please join us Thursday, January 17th at 9:00 am in the school gymnasium. Good luck to all participants!
After School Club Classroom Location
After school clubs starts today Monday, January 14, 2019. Students 3-5 enrolled in an after school club will report to the classroom assigned for the club chosen. Students K-2 enrolled in an after school club will be picked up by their teacher from the gym. If your student is enrolled in an after school club between 4:00 pm – 5:00 pm they will be waiting in the gym.
Please note, students waiting in the gym for their club advisor will be under supervision by a staff member. until 5:00 pm at the latest. You must arrive on time to pick your student.

Re-enrollment
Please do not forget to Re-Enroll your student(s). The deadline for re-enrollment is Friday, January 25th. If your child is currently enrolled at HSA – Sugar Land and you would like for him/her to attend Harmony Science Academy Sugar Land for the 2019-2020 academic year, you must fill out the re-enrollment form via Skyward. Completing the Re-enrollment form for all students is MANDATORY even if you decide not to have your child return. Failure to do so by January 25th will keep your student from returning to HSA – SL.

After school tutorials will resume TODAY January 8th, while Saturday tutorials will start January 12th with two sessions. If you have any questions please contact your child’s teacher.
After School Clubs Payment
This is just a friendly reminder that after school club payments for second semester will run again from Monday, January 7th-10th during posted business hours. If you do not meet the payment deadline your student will automatically be withdrawn from the club and the next student on the waiting list will be placed into the club. NO EXCEPTIONS!
NOTE: After School Clubs will resume next Monday, January 14th.

In accordance with the Texas State Plan for the Education of Gifted/Talented students, Harmony Public Schools will begin taking referrals for all interested students in grades K-12 for gifted and talented screening.
Anyone interested in the educational welfare of these students may nominate them for assessment. Students in grades 2 & up who were tested in the Fall 2018 are not eligible to test in Spring 2019. Referral forms are available at the front office and on the school’s web site.

HPS Child Find Policy
It is the policy of the Harmony Public Schools to ensure that
- All children with disabilities enrolled in the charter school regardless of the severity of their disability, and who are in need of special education and related services, are identified, located, and evaluated; and
- A practical method is developed and implemented to determine which children are currently receiving needed special education and related services.
These requirements apply to:
- Homeless children;
- Children who are wards of the state;
- Highly mobile children (including migrant children); and
- Children who are suspected of being in need of special education but who are advancing from grade to grade.
