After giving across-the-board pay raises to full-time teachers and campus staff earlier this school year, Harmony Public Schools will now be giving pay raises to all levels of substitute teachers.
The daily rate increase goes into effect February 14. The increase was approved unanimously by the Harmony Public Schools Board of Directors on January 29. Under the rate increase, substitute teachers will earn an extra $20-30 per day on top of the already-competitive Harmony rate.
For a teacher only working a few days per week, the increase will mean a few hundred dollars each month on top of the compensation they already earn. For certified teachers and long-term substitutes, the rate increase could mean up to $600 per month in increased pay (see chart above for rates for each position).
“Each day, substitute teachers are making a major impact on our schools by keeping our students on-track and learning when their regular teachers are unable to attend school,” Harmony CEO Fatih Ay said. “These professionals are important members of our school community, and we want to show our thanks.”
Harmony currently has substitute teaching opportunities at all of its campuses statewide.
Earlier this school year, Harmony also announced $4,000-$7,500 in additional annual compensation for teachers and other school staff.
The increase was the third occasion in the past two school years in which Harmony announced a major improvement to employee compensation and benefits.
In January 2021, Harmony announced a sweeping upgrade of its employer-paid benefits that provided free vision and dental plans to all full-time employees, introduced matching retirement plan contributions for 403(b) and (457(b) participants, and increased life insurance payouts from $20,000 to $100,000.
In Summer 2019, Harmony also announced statewide base pay increases for employees ranging from $3,500-$5,000, as well as additional stipends for teachers working in hard-to-staff subjects.

Dear Parents,

We would like to let you know that due to the cancellation of STEAM & International Festival our Saturday tutorial will be in session tomorrow, January 29, 2022.
Sincerely,
Harmony Science Academy Sugar Land Administration

Dear Sugar Land Academy Parents and Guardians,

Harmony Public Schools is committed to providing your child with the best possible education. To do that, we need to hear from them and you about our district, our schools, and the education we provide. That’s why we’re asking students and parents to take our School Culture Survey.

The survey asks for feedback on student support, academic preparation, safety and behavior, school leadership, and family involvement. The results will help us determine our strengths, identify opportunities for improvement, and develop responsive action plans.

The survey is open until February 28, 2022. Students in grades 2-12 will have an opportunity to take the survey at school. Although they will use their student ID to access the survey, their responses will be strictly confidential.  We also want to hear from you as well!  Please access the parent survey

here: https://survey.k12insight.com/r/21-22-HPS-SchoolQualitySurvey-Parents

We’re partnering with independent research and communications firm K12 Insight to administer the survey and compile the results. No one from the district or our school will know how you or your child responds.

With you and your child’s candid feedback, I’m confident we can shape the right futures for the district and our schools. Thank you for being a part of the Harmony Public Schools family.

Sincerely,

Harmony Science Academy Sugar Land Administration

Dear Sugar Land Academy Family:
Welcome back to the second semester of the 2021-2022 academic school year! I hope you and your loved ones had a wonderful Winter Break and took some time to reconnect with family and friends. I wish you a Splendid New Year and hope this new year brings you and your family peace, joy, and happiness.
As we welcome the second semester with great enthusiasm, our main focus will be academics. Between now and year-end, you can expect us to continue our pursuit of excellence, one child at a time by ensuring that we are effectively teaching all grade level standards and skills and providing high-quality instruction to every student. As we strive to provide rigorous and high-quality instruction to all of our students we want our students to understand that they are a vital part of the puzzle of success. In turn, I ask that parents continue to commit to their child’s education by ensuring attendance in school every day, arriving on time, provide your student support in completing class/homework assignments and encourage your student to maintain focus in class by giving their very best.
Lastly, I would like to remind parents and guardians that your student must arrive on time to school as well as be in dress code. All students are expected to be in school by 7:40 am. Please be reminded that instruction begins at 7:45 am and students who arrive thereafter will be counted tardy and will be missing out on valuable instruction time which will hinder their academic success.
We strongly encourage all students to wear a mask throughout the school day. If your student feels sick or is showing symptoms of COVID 19 please stay home until your student is symptom free and/or COVID free to return. We welcome you back to our first day of school for the second semester, January 5th. 2022.
Kind Regards,
Always for the Children!
