The National Elementary Honor Society will be accepting applications from September 6th to September 30th. Applicants must meet the following requirements:
· 4th or 5th grade student
· Cumulative A average in all classes
· Leadership, Service, Citizenship, and Character must be demonstrated through activities, volunteering, and teacher evaluations
· Satisfactory conduct with no suspensions

Dear Sugar Land Academy Family,

This is just a friendly reminder that clubs started today August 29th. Please be aware that signing up through the link does NOT guarantee your child a spot in a club. Payments will ONLY be made after you receive a confirmation email from the club sponsor. If your student is not on the club roster, your student will not be picked up from the club sponsor and your student will remain in the gym until second dismissal. If your student is in a club and you make it in the dismissal line before 3:40pm, you will be asked to exit the parking lot and return at 3:40pm as you will be hindering first dismissal.

We would like to inform you that the deadline to make a payment for an after school club has already passed. If your child was enrolled in a paying club and a payment was not made, your child has been removed from the program.

FALL MAP TESTING:

Harmony Science Academy – Sugar Land MAP (Measure Academic Progress) Fall Testing takes place during August 29-31.  MAP testing provides us with midpoint data collection to determine the progress your student is making in ELA, Math and/or Science. No preparation is necessary except a good night’s sleep and a hearty breakfast before school. Please encourage your child to focus, do their best and complete the test in its entirety.

NOTE: iPads, smartphones, and Apple computers are NOT compatible with the MAP program.

Dear Sugar Land Academy Parents and Guardians,

We would like to let you know that after school clubs will begin on August 29th. If you signed up for a club and received a confirmation email, you should receive an introduction/welcome email from the club sponsor teacher/teacher assistant before August 24th. Afterschool clubs and activities will take place from 3:05pm to 3:45pm or 4:00pm – 5:00pm, depending on your child’s club preference(s). If you signed up your student for a paying club, you must make a payment at the front office between August 22nd and August 24th. If you have not made a payment by August 24th at 4:00 pm, your child will be withdrawn from the club. NO Exceptions!

Important: Tutorials take precedence over clubs, so we ask that you check with your child’s teachers to see if your student will be required to attend tutorials. If your child is invited to tutorials, they MUST attend, NO EXCEPTIONS.  Please note requests for club transfers will NOT be honored. This distinction truly is a reflection of our hard work and commitment to our students and we can’t thank you enough for your relentless efforts, your resilience, your patience, your intent, your desire, and your heart to ensure all our children receive a caring, nurturing and positive learning environment to succeed. Dear Sugar Land Academy Parents and Guardians,

We would like to remind you about our dismissal procedure. All parents picking up a single student MUST ONLY use the Green or Orange lane depending on your student grade level. If you are picking up multiple students you MUST use the Blue lane. We are NOT releasing multiple students in the Green and Orange lane. Starting tomorrow, August 18th, if you are picking up multiple students in the Green and Orange Lane, you will be asked to park your car and go to the front office to get your car tag change to a blue one.

If the second/other student that you are picking up it’s not your student then the parent of the second/other student MUST be present at the front office to give consent/permission to the front office personnel to be able to issue a blue car tag.

Please cooperate with school personnel for the safety of your student and to help us expedite the dismissal process.

Dear Sugar Land Academy Parents,

 

Welcome back to an exciting new year!

Our first day of school is Tuesday, August 16, 2022. As a gentle reminder, school supplies will be accepted on the second day of school, August 17th (Please do not send school supplies with your students on the first day of school).

 

Student Tardy

All students are required to be in the classroom no later than 7:40 am as instruction begins a 7:45 am sharp. Tardy policy will be in effect starting August 22nd.  On the first couple of days of school, we highly suggest you drop off your student early to avoid traffic and delays. Please be patient and cooperative with drop off and dismissal.

 

***If you find yourself not making it to school after 7:40 am, you must park and accompany your student into the building and sign your child in at the front office. Dropping students off at the curbside, parking lot or building entrance doors is NOT permissible nor safe.

 

Kindergarten Parents Only

We are welcoming all of our kindergarten parents to park at 7:30 am and walk your student to the gym ONLY on the first day of school. Kindergarten students will be escorted from the cafeteria to the classroom then you will exit the building through the cafeteria doors.

 

Car Tags

Student Car Tags that have not been picked up, may be picked up from the front office between the hours of 9:00 am – 1:00 pm.

 

Dismissal

School dismissal is from 3:05 to 3:20 pm.  We kindly request you to review the attached Drop-off and Dismissal Procedure in order to have a smooth dismissal. Parents are required to remain in their cars during dismissal. Students will NOT be released to parents walking up to the building. Teachers and staff members will be stationed both inside & outside the building to direct and walk children to appropriate locations.

 

Note: As a friendly reminder our Bell Schedule has changed for the 2022-2023 academic year. Beginning Wednesday, August 17th the short day will be moved from Fridays to Wednesdays.  Classes will begin each Wednesday at normal time, which is ­­­7:45 am, but will end early at ­­­2:20 pm.

Please note this significant change to the calendar and make appropriate childcare arrangements for your student (s).
