Gifted and Talented Education
In accordance with the Texas State Plan for the Education of Gifted/Talented students, Harmony Science Academy-Sugar Land campus will begin taking nominations for all students in grades K-5th for gifted and talented screening. Effective January 7, 2019, parents and teachers may nominate their student(s) for GT testing.
Our campus uses NWEA MAP as a pre-screening criterion for CogAT testing (GT Student handbook page 7). Students are eligible to be tested (CogAT) for the Gifted/Talented program (criterion varies for students enrolled in Special Programs) if the student’s percentile rank of any of the NWEA MAP scores in Reading, Math or Science is greater or equal to 80 (NWEA MAP score at the 80th percentile).
ESL students who earn a score of 80 or above in NWEA MAP are also eligible for nominations.
Nomination forms are available at the front office and on the school website. All nomination forms must be returned to the front office no later than Thursday, January 31, 2019. No LATE nominations/forms will be accepted passed January 31st. NO EXCEPTIONS!!
GT Assessments will begin in February 2019. For more information about the screening and identification process, please contact the GT coordinator (Ms. Chandler) @ firstname.lastname@example.org
